Save Our Seeds is a long-running campaign focused on protecting seed diversity and promoting GMO-free agriculture across Europe.

The existing site had grown over many years on TYPO3 and needed a full technical and visual refresh, without losing the depth of content that had accumulated. The goal was to modernise the platform, make it easier to navigate and update, and give the campaign a clearer, more approachable online presence while keeping its established identity recognisable.

The project was a complete rebuild in WordPress, including planning and migrating content from the old TYPO3 installation. I created a new custom theme and restructured the content into different post types for things like news, publications and materials, so information could be reused and related in more flexible ways. Content is made available in multiple languages, organised with the WPML plugin.

During migration, outdated or duplicate content was cleaned up and mapped to the new structure, making it easier for editors to maintain the site going forward. The design is lighter and more consistent, with clearer hierarchies and responsive layouts that work well on mobile and desktop devices.

Summary

Due to the outdated TYPO3 installation and server setup, the project required a lot of manual migration. The result is a more maintainable, mobile-friendly campaign site that keeps its archive while being easier to use for both visitors and editors.
