Educational platform for global fields
2000m² is an educational project about global food systems, asking a simple question: what if all the world’s arable land was divided equally – how much space would each person have, and what could be grown there? The website needed to present a lot of different content types in a clear way: background topics, crops and information about global fields that bring the idea to life in different locations. The aim was to make the project approachable for schools, initiatives and individuals, while still holding together as one coherent resource.
As the project has grown, the website has been extended and rebuilt numerous times, now serving as the international coordinating platform, with local projects often having their own websites.
The site is built on WordPress and structured around several custom post types for topics, audio guides and global fields. A multilingual setup allows the project to reach more people, with shared structures across languages. The design is kept light and friendly, using clear typography and flexible layouts to handle everything from long-form explanations to visual stories.
Summary
For 2000m², I built and designed a custom WordPress site with multiple custom post types, shortcodes and a multilingual setup to manage complex, interconnected content. The result is an educational platform where topics, fields and guides all link together, while remaining easy for the editors to maintain.
