Most of the time when I build or work on a WordPress website for a client, it’s either a new website, a migration from a different CMS or implementing a new design.
For this project, there was already an existing WordPress website with a design that the client wanted to keep intact. The theme was, however, a custom build with limited ways of adding new functionality or layouts. So I built a new theme, merging the old design and basing it on the standard block editor.
This was an interesting project, the technical aspects were relatively straight forward. In the end the main challenge was making sure the frontend stayed exactly the same as before – which turned out to be more challenging than expected due to fonts, responsive design and small custom quirks. In the end it would be hard for most people to spot the difference!
This was a project together with the online marketing agency Docleads.
